I found it very surprising that many people living in Berlin still harbor East-West stereotypes and wish for the wall to be rebuilt. My mom saw the Berlin wall before it fell, and the way she described the overall atmosphere of the city in that time period seemed far worse than it is now. It seems to me that they should be much more excited about what they could accomplish reunited rather than wishing to be split apart again. I also found it very strange that there is so much mistrust between the Bavarians in south Germany and the North.

The NY times article on Berlin made it seem even more attractive to a young, unsure traveler looking for a fresh slate. I hope to someday go to visit or even live for awhile in a German city, and the promise of cheap living and abundant culture is very appealing. I also hope that the easy-to-party lifestyle wouldn't be too appealing and stifle any attempt at success or creativity, like what happened in this article.

AMD 6

Für mein AMD, ich sah ein Deutsch Film. Es war "The Edge of Heaven" hieß. Ein Türkisch Mann lebte in Deutschland und er ging aus Instanbul. Ali Aksu ist die Hauptfigur. Ich kannte nicht alles verstehen, weil sie sehr schnell sprechen. Ich sah Hälfte des Film und es war sehr traurig. Ich sollte im Zukunft mehr können verstehen.

AMD 5

Für mein AMD habe ich ein "Step Into German" Webseite gelesen. Ich hatte keine Idee dass Deutsch Musik sehr vielfältig war. Die Personen im meinen andere AMDs (Sido und Peter Fox) sind über die Top-Zehn Singles Chart. Ich habe viel überraschend für diese. Die Deutsch Musik Videos war sehr interessant und anders als Amerikanerin Musik Videos. Ich mag die Musikers Cro, Bosse, und Max Herre. Ich liebe viele Arten von Musik, und Deutsch Musik haben alles. Die Webseite hat zeigen Inserate für Deutsch Musikers im Amerika. Ich denke diesen wäre viel Spaß zu gehen.

Kultur 10

I found it interesting that the Germans are so infatuated with a short film that most other countries have never even heard of, even though it's actors are British. It sounded very entertaining, but I'm sure some people, especially children or teenagers, get tired of watching it every single year.

It would take me a long time to get used to stores closing so early in Germany.  In America, most convenience stores and gas stations are open extremely late or even all night if you need a late night snack. I also enjoy getting all my errands done Sunday morning, and I doubt I could remember everything the Saturday before. It definitely increases the amount of relaxation you are able to do on Sunday, however. It was also interesting how Germans have transformed Father's Day into a national drinking holiday, sort of like we have St. Patrick's in the US. That seems like it might be a good way for a father and son to bond, but the article also mentioned that not even everyone who celebrates was a with their father or a father.

AMD 4 Tommy McIlwaine

Für AMD 4 habe ich die Musik auf Sido gehören. Sido ist ein berühmtest Rapper aus Oste-Berlin. Ich mag sein Lieder Herz (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ikcvxhaDBg) und Bilder im Kopf (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RveIJFR7LV4). Sido spreche sehr schnell, dass ich nicht viel Worte verstehen kann. Er hat vier Studio Alben und er ist im zwei Filme. Ich liebe alle Musik und Deutsch Rap ist sehr interessant und neu. Ich habe nie ein Deutsch Rapper gehören.

Kultur 9 Tommy McIlwaine

I found it very interesting that when asked if they love their country, most Germans will quickly respond "no." Even so long after WWII, the effect of a few people's actions on German patriotism is longstanding. Especially when confronted so much with the American sense of patriotism in politics and the media, it would be very backward to suddenly go into a place where supporting your country was considered taboo. I also thought the restrictions on basic every day activities due to neighbor complaints was quite ridiculous. I feel like with a good relationship; however, the neighbors wouldn't be too mad if you set ground rules beforehand. As an extremely unorganized person, I would have a lot of trouble keeping track all of the paperwork mentioned in "Bureaucracy Gone Awry," and might end up not applying for a job at all! I also wondered how this would affect people from other countries who did not have as much documentation when they were applying for a position in Germany.

AMD 3 Tommy McIlwaine

Für mein AMD, ich habe eine Deutsche-Stil Kartoffeln gekocht (http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/German-Style-Fried-Potatoes-355207). Ich bin auf Kroger mit mein Mitbewohner für die Bestandteile gegangen kaufen. Die Kartoffeln war sehr gut, auch wenn ich bin nicht ein gute Koch. Mein Mitbewohner hat nicht gern mein Essen gegessen, weil er allergisch auf Zwiebeln ist. Ich gefällt mir Deutsch-Essen!
